This Stars' season has been a Jenga-like tower of puzzling Rubik's Cubes.
From the injury-riddled forward corps to the ever-changing group of defensemen to the high-priced goalies who at one point had the worst stats in the league, the Dallas roster has been an enigma.
But the best way to solve a puzzle is to start at the base, and that's just what Stars coach Lindy Ruff seems to have done. The Dallas bench boss in the past month has solidified his top defensive pairing, and much has fallen in line because of it. By placing rookie Esa Lindell next to John Klingberg, Ruff has given the defense a foundation to build around.
