Miro Heiskanen is speeding up the process, but Jim Nill feels the decision to use players earlier in their careers is something the Stars need to do no matter where they draft.
The Stars learned Saturday that they'll have the No. 13 pick in the NHL entry draft, which is June 22-23 at American Airlines Center. Their name was not drawn in the lottery to award the first three picks.
Nill, the Stars general manager, was taught in 20 years with the Detroit Red Wings that it's a good plan to allow players extra years in the minors so they are "overripe" when they get to the NHL.
