To a certain extent, Stars defenseman Gavin Bayreuther had no choice but to shoot as the centerpiece of a poor New England high school team. Now, his shot -- and overall play -- has left the Stars with a decision once Connor Carrick returns from a broken foot.
Bayreuther has played 18 games since his recall from AHL affiliate Texas in mid-November, and has rode the roller coaster up to a game-tying goal in Calgary along with first unit power-play time, and down to a healthy scratch in San Jose and less than 12 minutes of ice time in Minnesota recently.
