FRISCO -- For a week, Riley Tufte was a veteran of sorts.
When the Stars held development camp last week in Frisco, it was the fourth one of Tufte's career, so the routine of skating and skill drills capped with a week-ending scrimmage felt familiar to him. But the rest of the year won't follow the same script he's been following.
Tufte, the Stars' first-round pick in 2016 at No. 25, will turn pro this fall, likely ending up with AHL affiliate Texas after playing three seasons of college hockey for Minnesota-Duluth. Excluding the Stars' two most recent first-round picks (Thomas Harley this year and Ty Dellandrea last year), Tufte was the last first-rounder picked by Jim Nill not to play professionally.
