When the Stars opened training camp in Boise two months ago, teenaged defenseman Miro Heiskanen was a relative unknown. Sure, the organization knew about his skating and vision and stickwork, that's why they made him the No. 3 pick in the 2017 draft. But everything else -- his adjustment to the narrower NHL ice, to the best players in the world, to living in America for the first time -- was up in the air.
Stars coach Jim Montgomery raved about Heiskanen on the very first day of training camp, saying the 19-year-old picked up drills and concepts pretty easily.
