Film room: Second power-play unit carries Dallas Stars' offense as top unit struggles in Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- Results matter. They always have in coaching and hockey and power plays. Power plays need to score goals and capitalize on opportunities given, and the Stars' power play has had long stretches this season of missing production, including a 1-for-24 stretch in November.

It's concerning, but for Stars coach Jim Montgomery, the real worry lies in the process instead of the results.

"I haven't seen consistent momentum-building and that's what you want from your power play," Montgomery said before Dallas' 4-2 loss to Vegas on Sunday night. "Results, they matter, but they're not as significant as building momentum.
