CHICAGO -- Ed Belfour knows a thing or two about the symbiotic relationship between a goalie and his defense.
The Hall of Famer started his career in Chicago with Chris Chelios, Gary Suter and Steve Smith and won two Vezina trophies and a Calder Trophy. He then moved to Dallas and played behind Sergei Zubov, Derian Hatcher and Darryl Sydor and made it to two Stanley Cup finals, winning it all in 1999.
"For a goalie to have success, you have to play good team defense in front of them. It makes our job a lot easier," said Belfour, who was honored before Thursday's Stars-Blackhawks game, which the Hawks won 3-2 in a shootout.
