The Dallas Stars have made several moves today to trim their roster down to 40 players. Prior to the start of the season, the Stars will trim that number down further to the 23 players allowed on opening day rosters (21 skaters and 2 goaltenders).
This morning, defensemen Andrew Bodnarchuk and Dustin Stevenson were placed on waivers. Assuming they clear (and both are likely to do so), these two are likely to be assigned to the Texas Stars in order to provide some veteran depth to the AHL team. Remember that players claimed off of waivers are required to be placed on NHL rosters immediately as we move through the last week before the season begins.
