It’s February 1, 2019. 25 days still separate the NHL from the official 2019 Trade Deadline. And yet, the Dallas Stars have already pieced together two trades in the past few weeks.
The first came on Jan. 14 when the Stars sent forward Devin Shore to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Andrew Cogliano. Exactly two weeks later, Dallas made a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins, reacquiring defenseman Jamie Oleksiak in exchange for the same 2019 fourth-round pick that they acquired from Pittsburgh for Oleksiak in December 2017.
These moves come at an important time for the Stars.
