The game doesn’t mean anything for the standings, but it was a good first pre-season test for the Dallas Stars.
There were mistakes made all around, with a lot of players (and some of the refs) looking like they were in pre-season form.
The penalties got a little out of control in the third period, including a 5-on-3 penalty kill for the Stars. They let in a goal during the kill, which was the result of an unfair tripping call on Roman Polak and a much more reasonable roughing call on Jamie Benn.
There were moments of players being out of position and some miscommunication, but that’s expected in pre-season.
