On March 10, 2014, the Dallas Stars organization experienced something they had never witnessed before and hopefully never will again.
In the middle of the first period in a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Rich Peverley collapsed on the Stars bench. After finishing a shift, Peverley slumped over on the bench, spawning some quick movements by the players and medical staff in front of the oblivious fans.
Peverley was quickly revived and rushed to the hospital. After nervously sitting around and worrying, the fans were asked to leave and the game was officially postponed.
After a short stay in the hospital, Peverley was allowed to leave but was shut down from competition for the remainder of the season and postseason.
