A handful of Dallas Stars prospects began play at the Traverse City Tournament on Friday afternoon with a contest against the Minnesota Wild. The annual competition is held in Traverse City, Michigan and provides an opportunity for the Stars and seven other NHL franchises to put their top prospects up against other farm systems in the league in order to gauge potential.
In addition to the tournament serving as a benefit for the coaches and front offices of each team, it’s also a chance for prospects to prove their value on a bigger stage while vying for a spot on the organizational depth chart.
