Dallas Stars Fly Too Close To Sun, Fall To Detroit 3-2

It looked to be the Stars’ game for sure in the first period, where Dallas was dominating in shots and was maintaining good positioning in their own zone to shut down shooting lanes. Rolling out a very stable and composed-looking penalty kill, the Stars seemed the better team.

Despite good looks and big opportunities, the Red Wings scored first in a scramble around the net, a goal which Colton Sceviour then answered to extend his goal streak to three in his last four games. Athanasiou came back for his second of the game, which the Stars didn’t respond to until a late third period goal from Vernon Fiddler.
