A smattering of news from the last few days here as we make our way through the slowest part of the schedule for hockey.
First of all, the Dallas Stars announced last week that they had signed goalie Magnus Hellberg to a one-year, two-way deal. Hellberg, who is probably most familiar to Texas fans for his time with Milwaukee ten years ago, brings some NHL experience to Cedar Park.
It appears likely that Hellberg, being on a two-way, will be the third goalie in the organization behind Oettinger and DeSmith. Betting on goalie health is almost always a losing game, so it makes sense that Dallas bolstered the backend with a second backup possibility.
