The Stars plan on taking another big swing with their first pick in the NHL draft Friday night at American Airlines Center.
General manager Jim Nill, entering his sixth draft with the club, favors that high-risk, high-reward approach. The goal with pick No. 13 overall is to grab a high-upside talent, not a plugger.
"You're hoping to get someone who's going to be a star," Nill said Thursday evening. "You can always trade for or sign a depth player. We're looking for a guy that can come in and make a difference."
It takes three to five years to fully judge a draft.
