Patrick Eaves and Lauri Korpikoski made simple but efficient forechecking plays along the boards and forced the Avalanche to turn the puck over in the first period. Korpikoski then fed Devin Shore at the net for the all-important first goal of the game. Dallas is 13-5-3 when scoring first this season.
