The absurdity that has haunted the 2016-17 season sent a chill down the spine of Stars fans on trade deadline day Wednesday and reminded once again that this simply isn't going to be their year.
Maybe the most desirable trade piece the Stars had -- veteran winger Patrick Sharp -- wasn't able to be moved because of a mysterious injury. Instead, the Stars will ride out the campaign in a stripped down Victory Green jalopy that will struggle to the finish line. In the last few days, Dallas unloaded Patrick Eaves, Jordie Benn, Johnny Oduya and Lauri Korpikoski for draft picks and prospects, because that's what teams do when they aren't going to make the playoffs.
