With Dirk Nowitzki on the mend, Harrison Barnes has elevated his game

DALLAS — With his team skidding on a five-game losing streak to begin the season and his 13-time All-Star teammate on the bench in street clothes Sunday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks new addition Harrison Barnes put his superhero cape on and came to the rescue.

Producing a career-high scoring night with 34 points on 13-of-26 shooting, Barnes led the Mavericks (1-5) to their first win of the season with an 86-75 overtime victory. The 6-foot-8 versatile forward also continued to aid the Mavs on the glass, following up his double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds Friday against Portland with eight more boards two nights later.
