Coach Rick Carlisle doesn't want his perimeter defenders taking unnecessary chances just because shot-blocking center DeAndre Jordan is waiting near the rim to clean up mistakes.

Wesley Matthews, feeling completely healthy after last season ended with a leg fracture that did not require surgery, said his job of defending the opponent's best wing player will change with Jordan around.
"I was reaching [like crazy] today in practice," Matthews said after the first official scrimmage with Jordan as a teammate. "It's an adjustment and it's a fun and good one to have.
