Rick Carlisle has a theory about point guards and ballhandling playmakers in general.
You can never have enough of them.
That's why he shrugs and laughs a little when he hears fans or media members suggest that both Dennis Smith Jr. and Luka Doncic are ball-needy -- that is, both operate best when they are handling the basketball, not playing off of it.
That seems to be a major concern among some.
For Carlisle?
"I'm not worried about it," he said.
And that's all he said. No "unless" or any other stipulation about playing his two prized youngsters together, whether it be in the backcourt or with Doncic playing some variation of point-forward.
