TORONTO -- The Mavericks are a lot like that intern at your office who has aspirations to be the company president.
He or she's got a few intermediate steps to make first.
For the Mavericks, they want to make the giant leap from afterthought to championship contenders. For now, they'd probably settle for a pit stop at mediocrity.
But at 2-3 after Friday's 116-107 loss to the undefeated Raptors, the Mavericks actually have had moments when they look like they belong in conversation regarding relevance in the NBA.
They certainly have a few players who have hit the ground running this season.
