Wesley Matthews might not be back on the floor by opening night October 28th, but Mavericks fans have to be encouraged by news from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Dwain Price that the team’s new starting shooting guard took part in contact drills at practice for the first time since rupturing his Achilles tendon back in March on Monday.
Matthews’ work ethic is unquestioned, but the progress he has made in the seven months since suffering the tendon tear is still fairly surprising. It will be interesting to see how he feels tomorrow, but it’s worth noting he felt well enough to stick around and get some three-pointers up.
