The Puerto Rico men’s basketball national team is on the brink of earning a trip to the Olympic qualifying tournament, and Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea is a big reason why.
Barea and his countrymen are currently competing in the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City for a possible trip to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and their dreams are still alive thanks to some impressive individual efforts by Barea.
The point guard has led Puerto Rico in scoring in all but one of the team’s six games, but his best effort came in a single-handed demolition of the Dominican Republic Monday.
