To Kleber, everything seemed so surreal when the NBA stopped play a year ago

It was March 11, 2020 when everything seemed so out of place and so surreal to Dallas Mavericks forward/center Maxi Kleber.

At the time, the Mavs were in the middle of a home game against the Denver Nuggets when word came down from the NBA that this would be their last game because the NBA season was going to take a 30-day hiatus. Those poignant words were uttered after – three hours to the north of Dallas – Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for Covid-19 as his team was preparing to play the Oklahoma City Thunder.
