DALLAS - Disgruntled Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler will not play Saturday night against the Dallas Mavericks due to precautionary rest, the team announced.
Butler, who has been engaged in a standoff with the organization since requesting a trade the week before training camp opened, scored 33 points on 10-of-12 shooting in 36 minutes to lead the Timberwolves to a 131-123 win Friday night over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Minnesota home crowd showered Butler with boos during pregame introductions. However, Timberwolves fans serenaded him with "MVP!" chants after his spectacular performance.
