Narrative Hunting: Dallas Edition
Narratives are strange things. We gravitate towards them because they help us make sense of the seemingly random, disconnected events that populate our reality. In sports, crazy occurrences happen every night. Huge swings in the fortunes of individuals, teams, and even cities happen so fast, it can border on nonsensical. Sports offers a fertile field for narrative-building because these random, seemingly-important events need context and coherence. So we craft stories to help things make sense.
Why did the Bulls/Lakers win so many championships? Cause MJ and Kobe had the “heart of a champion,” and “the will to win.
