Three things to keep in mind when it comes to the Mavs and the NBA trade deadline, including the 'untouchables'

It's two weeks until the NBA trading deadline and the Mavericks are standing firm in their belief that taking on salary is OK, as long as competitors are willing to pay for it with a draft pick.

The more salary the Mavericks take back - in the form of players with salaries that could fill some or all of the $13-million of space they have under the cap - the higher the draft pick will have to be.

That's the thinking around the NBA. And one key element to this is that teams at the top of the second round, like Sacramento, are not considered potential trade partners with the Mavericks.
