Here's our three takeaways from the Mavericks' 109-101 loss to Charlotte on Monday night, which dropped their record to 4-16. They lost both games to the Hornets this season.

Fourth-quarter blues: The Mavericks were up 76-66 late in the third quarter. By the midpoint of the fourth, they were down 93-88 after getting outscored 27-12. It was a combination of Nicolas Batum, Marco Belinelli and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who hurt the Mavericks. Batum was having a huge night, threatening a triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Kemba Walker's layup with 5:06 to go made it 97-91, Charlotte.
