The two had a special relationship. And it was made more fun because they ended up playing on a team that became one of the greatest offensive forces in the league.
"He took me out on the road so I wouldn't sit around all the time and be homesick," Nowitzki said Friday night. "We had a heck of a team. We had the perfect coach in Nellie (Don Nelson, also a hall of famer) who let us do our thing.
