ORLANDO -- Two nights after LeBron James passed Michael Jordan for fourth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, Dirk Nowitzki made his most pronounced move of the season in his chase of Wilt Chamberlain for No. 6 on the all-time list.
Granted, Nowitzki’s 15-point output in Friday night’s 111-106 loss to Orlando at Amway Center won’t be included in the pantheon of great Nowitzki career performances, but the way this season has gone, it qualified as a breakthrough performance.
While tying his season-high for points in a game, Nowitzki shot 6-of-11 from the field and pulled down five rebounds in 19 minutes.
