The Dallas Mavericks and Jameel Warney have agreed to a partially guaranteed deal that brings the team’s roster to 18, according to the Associated Press’ Michael Scotto.
Warney is a 22-year-old big man who spent four seasons at Stony Brook University before joining the Mavericks’ summer league team and impressing in Las Vegas. The 6’8 big man backed up second round pick A.J. Hammons, generally outplaying him throughout the team’s six games while averaging about six points and seven rebounds. However, there are obvious concerns about Warney, who is small for his position (he has a power forward body and a center skillset).
