'The look on his face was priceless': How the Mavericks turned a young fan's No. 1 wish into reality

Rutger McCrum's Make-A-Wish was made true by the Mavericks on Wednesday night, in the most resounding, heartfelt way possible.

McCrum, 14, was one of six Make-A-Wish Foundation children who were feted before, during and after the Mavericks-Suns game at American Airlines Center as the heroes and inspirations they truly are.

McCrum, who has a malignant brain tumor, was the Mavericks' honorary captain. He got to stand at midcourt during the captains' pregame meeting with referees, shoot a few baskets with the Mavericks during warmups and high-five the starters as they were introduced.

"Man, you brought us some luck," Mavericks swingman Wesley Matthews told McCrum after Dallas' 10-point victory.
