Elton Brand is the new general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, according to a report ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Brand will replace interim general manager Brian Brown, who will now focus his full attention on coaching a young and talented team that includes center Joel Embiid and point guard Ben Simmons.
The organization elected to promote Brand from his previous role as vice president of basketball operations. The franchise will introduce him at a press conference on Thursday, per that ESPN report.
Brand had a long and productive career in the NBA.
He also spent one season playing for Mark Cuban’s Mavericks during the 2012-13 NBA season.
