MEMPHIS - The Mavericks had only 11 players available for Sunday’s all-important, but only as it pertains to the lottery, game against Memphis at FedEx Forum.
Alas, either DeAndre Liggins wasn’t available as a fill-in or Mavericks owner Mark Cuban thought better of it.
Turns out, the Mavericks didn’t need mostly-forgotten Liggins to rally from a 15-point second-half deficit and pull out a 129-127 overtime victory over a Memphis team against which Dallas is “competing” for improved lottery odds.
Except on this night, clearly, the Mavericks and especially Salah Mejri (19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks) weren’t the least interested in putting forth anything less than full effort.
