Takeaway: Williams responded to injury with solid game against Kings

SACRAMENTO — Dallas Maverick point guard Brandon Williams had this simple way of letting coach Jason Kidd know he was going to be

able to play in Wednesday’s play-in tournament against the Sacramento Kings.

“He text me (Wednesday) and said there was no way that he was going to miss this game,” Kidd said. “It was good to get that text (Wednesday) afternoon after shootaround.”

It was good, because for the Mavs, Williams was one of the best players on the court. He certainly was one of the most efficient, since he was 5-of-8 from the field and tallied 17 points in only 18 minutes off the bench, and also contributed five assists.
