With five seconds left and the Mavericks inbounding the ball, and with Dirk Nowitzki needing a 3-pointer to tie Wilt Chamberlain for sixth in the NBA’s all-time scoring list and American Airlines Center fans on their feet, levity ensued.
Not lightness-in-weight levity. Ha-ha levity.
Nowitzki, at the top of the key, attempted to set a pick on the Cleveland Cavalier guarding Devin Harris, Collin Sexton, ostensibly with the idea of rolling out for a three-point try.
Nowitzki and Sexton got tangled, though, knocking Sexton to the court and Nowitzki sprawling atop Sexton. Tim-ber!
“Apparently it was too fast for him,” mused Harris of Nowitzki.
