DALLAS — After having the ball placed in his hands frequently near the close of the 2016-17 regular-season schedule, Argentine swingman Nicolas Brussino’s development as a playmaker could prove to be vital to the success of the Dallas Mavericks next season.
Playing in 54 games during his rookie campaign with the Mavericks, Brussino averaged 2.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and .9 assists in 9.6 minutes an outing. He also shot just 36.9 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from three-point range, struggling to adjust to the NBA game after an extensive international career. However, the 24-year-old began to play his best basketball near the close of the regular season while getting additional playing time as the Mavericks sat their veterans.
