DALLAS — He was the forgotten man in Boston before receiving a buyout in the middle of the 2015-16 season. Now, veteran big man David Lee could prove to be vital to the Dallas Mavericks’ chances of luring a marquee free agent to town this summer.
Waiving fourth-year guard John Jenkins on Feb. 22 to make space for Lee on the roster, the Mavericks quickly integrated the 11-year veteran in time to make a run at the playoffs. Prior to joining the Mavs, Lee averaged 7.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game during his 30 appearances for the Boston Celtics.
