DALLAS — Awarded the rights to DeAndre Liggins on April 11 after a waiver claim late in the 2016-17 season, the Dallas Mavericks now plan to take a long look at the 6-foot-6 swingman this summer in hopes of having him on the roster next year.
Liggins, a Chicago native, played three seasons at the Kentucky, averaging 8.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 31.6 minutes as a junior while helping lead the Wildcats to the NCCA Final Four. The 29-year-old was then originally taken by the Orlando Magic with the 53rd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, joining the Mavericks late this season after short stints with Orlando, Oklahoma City, Miami and Cleveland.
