DALLAS — He’s been the cornerstone of the franchise essentially since entering the NBA in 1998. However, with Dirk Nowitzki set to turn 37 years old this summer, will the Dallas Mavericks now look to lighten his burden by adding younger contributors going into next season?
Making his 13th All-Star appearance this season, Nowitzki played in 77 games while finishing second on the team in scoring with an average of 17.3 points per outing. He increased that number during the Mavericks’ first-round exit in the playoffs, scoring 21.2 points a contest as the team fell in five games to the second-seeded Houston Rockets.
