Mavs have six players in health and safety protocols

Jason Kidd delivered a solid message to the six new players who had the privilege of making their way onto the Dallas Mavericks’ roster this week after signing a 10-day contract under the COVID-related hardship allowance.

“One, be yourself,” the Mavs’ coach said. “We’re not asking you to do anything more or less. Believe in your talent and stay in character.

“And as we go, we’re going to learn each other very quickly — the terminology as we explain things to them.”

In essence, the message is that in one of the strangest weeks in the history of the NBA, teams like the Mavs are just trying to do the best they can with what they have.
