LAS VEGAS – This wasn’t exactly what the Dallas Mavericks envisioned when they left North Texas 10 days ago.
A furious rally from the Mavs came up short Saturday night, and they left the Thomas & Mack Center on the short end of a 95-84 summer league score to the Los Angeles Lakers. The loss meant the Mavs finished summer league play winless at 0-5.
The Mavs stumbled out of the gate and trailed, 52-26, late in the second quarter. But they managed to crawl all the way back to within 83-78 of the Lakers after Miye Oni drilled a three-pointer off a feed from Jaden Harden with 5:06 remaining in the game.
