PHOENIX — Although he admits that he will have a busy two days at the NBA’s annual All-Star Weekend later this month, Dallas Mavericks rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. says it will be a dream come true to have an opportunity to showcase his skills on the league’s big stage.
Thursday, the NBA announced that Smith will be one of four participants in the 2018 Verizon Slam Dunk contest, which will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 17. The 6-foot-3 Smith will become just the third player in Mavericks history to compete in the slam dunk contest, joining the likes of Tony Dumas and Michael Finley.
