With the news that Monta Ellis will opt out of his final contract year breaking Wednesday morning, it appears that the Dallas Mavericks are already looking to replace him. Shams Charania of RealGM is reporting that the Mavs are targeting Spurs shooting guard Danny Green.
Since the start of summer, Green has been rumored as a possible replacement if the team parted ways with Ellis. The Mavs are looking to improve defensively and get bigger at the off guard, qualities that Green provides. From Charania:
As the prime template of a three-and-defense player in today's NBA, Green could command around $10 to $12 million as an unrestricted free agent, a former second-round NBA draft selection who will land his first major contract.
