Mavericks suspend employee; assistant coach reportedly arrested

DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks said Sunday that they have suspended an employee they didn't identify amid a report that assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Dallas television station WFAA cited multiple law enforcement sources in reporting that local police responded to a call in the predawn hours Saturday. The sources said the 56-year-old Armstrong and a woman were arguing when he hit her with a gun and threatened to shoot her.

Dallas police didn't immediately respond to an email from The Associated Press seeking details of the incident.
