As with every Dallas Mavericks home game, Derek Harper sat courtside in the American Airlines Center, flanked by Mark Followill and Jeff Wade Sunday night in preparation for the television broadcast. The Mavericks were taking on the New York Knicks, but the game was the secondary draw for the evening, taking a backseat to a ceremony held at halftime. In it, Harper’s number 12 was retired and raised into the rafters, making him just the third player in franchise history to have such an honor bestowed upon him.
“You know, I was quiet,” Harper said about calling the first half of the game.
