Mavericks had a chance to prove themselves in a close game...they failed; Cuban wants to take care of home fans

The Mavericks have been in a ton of blowouts this season - both the good and bad sides.

On Wednesday, they got a chance to see how they handled a nail-biting situation.

The results were not good.

The Mavericks were outscored 25-5 after owning a 64-52 lead as the Detroit Pistons rallied for a 95-85 victory at American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks went cold from late in the third quarter through all of the fourth. They still led 64-60 going into the final 12 minutes, but hit just 2-of-11 shots to start the quarter.

When Dorian Finney-Smith hit a 3-pointer with 4:48 to play, the Mavericks were within 79-72, but that was about all their rally got them.
