SALT LAKE CITY – The Mavericks were poised to take yet another victory on the road Saturday afternoon.
Then, Rudy Gobert happened.
The long, lanky Utah center made a huge follow shot that put the Jazz ahead with under a minute to play and then had a key blocked shot that snuffed the Mavericks’ last hope as Utah held on for a 112-107 victory.
The Mavericks came into the game with a 15-5 record on the road, but their only trip this season to Utah – in the regular season, at least – ended painfully.
It was a gripping game throughout and the Mavericks had held off several Utah blitzes.
