The case for keeping him: Playing by far the fewest minutes per game of his career, Stoudemire still posted double-figure points (10.8 per game) during his 23 games with the Mavericks. He did exactly what he was brought in to do, which was give the Mavericks some depth and muscle in the frontcourt. What he also did was provide some air freshener to what was becoming sort of a stale locker room. The Mavericks needed to be reminded that they weren’t working hard enough, often enough.
