Mavericks' backcourt success not enough to avoid last place; Barea close to a return; No timetable for Dirk seeing more play time

The Mavericks were hoping to climb out of the Western Conference cellar for good Thursday night. But they'll have to pay a little more rent for that space.

They remain tied for the fewest wins in the Western Conference after dropping a 102-95 decision to the Phoenix Suns at American Airlines Center.

At 11-25, the Mavericks fell back to dead last in the West, a half-game behind the Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Tied at 93, the Mavericks surrendered five quick points to Eric Bledsoe, who had 26 on the night to lead the suns. Moments later, Bledsoe made two free throws and the Suns were secure with a 100-93 lead and 23.
